Romantic Hotel Getaway Tips

romantic hotel tips

A romantic getaway can be the perfect cure-all for many relationship ails. Whether you need a relaxing respite or a romantic romp to renew your relationship, a quick getaway can be like an instant reset. To help you plan the perfect getaway with the least amount of hassle, use the following insider tips and create the ultimate romantic experience for you both!

  • Decide what type of getaway you and your partner would most like to have. Do you want to sit and relax by the pool the entire time? Do you want to engage in local events or area attractions? Do you want to explore the outdoors? Do you want to enjoy fine cuisine and live music? Making sure you know your objective before you book will allow you to check for the right amenities and local activities and help you decide on the perfect hotel to meet your getaway needs.
  • Before you book a hotel, make sure to take a quick look at a site like TripAdvisor to view reviews and photos from actual guests.

  • Ask about romance packages or extras. Some hotels offer a room upgrade upon arrival, chocolates, flowers, champagne and/or breakfast in bed.
  • Does the hotel offer late check-out? Also, check to see if there is a charge for checking out late.
  • Does the hotel have a pool and/or hot tub? Also check to see if the pool is heated and what hours it’s open.
  • Is there is a gym, health spa or other services on the premises?. If there is a spa, see if they offer in-room massages. A few hotels offer poolside massages as well.
  • Does the hotel offer express checkout?
  • If you’re staying at a resort, you may find they have activities you can both join in, especially during the summer. Activities can range from a sunset dinner cruise to various guest sporting events.

  • Call the front desk of the hotel rather than the reservation system for information about the hotel and reserving your room. They have a more accurate and up-to-date information regarding what rooms are available and may be able to offer you some sort of upgrade or room location preference.
  • Find out what type of view your room will have. Try to make sure it doesn’t overlook a parking lot or a freeway.
  • Try to reserve a room in the most quiet location possible. For example, away from elevators, meeting rooms and busy areas in the corridors.
  • Check whether the rooms have a mini-fridge and/or microwave.

  • If you’re planning on using the internet, find out if the hotel has free wi-fi, and if not how much it will be. Some locations charge a fee for a faster, upgraded connection.
  • Ask if they have the Movies On Command or Movies On Demand service. For a fee, you can watch movies that are still in the theater or not yet released on video.

  • If you plan on ordering room service, find out if the hotel even offers this service and from what hours. Some hotels only offer a very limited selection after 10pm. Check to see if this is the case. If so, see if the concierge or front desk have numbers and menus to nearby restaurants that will deliver to the hotel.
  • Ask how many restaurants are on the location. Do they serve full meals or just appetizers?
  • What is the extent of their concierge services. If possible, book a room in the hotel’s concierge levels. Most concierge level rooms offer additional amenities such as a complimentary continental breakfast and nightly hors d’oeuvres.

Above all, be in the romantic spirit and no matter what happens your getaway will be great!
